My fan is connected to a light switch. Sometimes I want to run the fan without the light on and when I pull the chain, nothing happens. I want the light switch on the wall to be on and be able pull the chain on the fan and turn the lights off while the fan still runs. Right now if I want the fan on, the light has to be on too. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks-Jay

What make is the fan? How many pullchains does it have?

Im not sure what brand it is but it has two chains. The chain that isn't working still pulls down and feels like it is working properly except the light wont turn on or off. Is there a way to locate brand?

If you send me a picture I can probably identify it. Is it possible someone messed with the wiring of the pullchain? Open it up and see if it's still connected, and how. A picture of the wiring might be helpful too.
Has it ALWAYS not worked or did it used to?

I believe it used to work. When I pull the chain it clicks but doesn't do anything. What is the best way to send you pics of it?

HOWEVER if it used to work and nothing has been changed, it's probably a bad pullchain switch. We have detailed instructions on how to replace those on the site.

so even if the chain clicks like it is connected properly it still might be a defective pull chain?

It's possible. And if no one has messed with the wiring I dont know what else it could be.
