Hooked up to receiver. The lights turn on fan motor hums but blades don't spin. Hard wired straight to house and have the same result. Any ideas?

You can use either the oil filled can or the black box type, just make sure it is the same value.
FWIW the oil filled cans are most often used in heavier duty applications.
