Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ 5 Hampton Bay fans all began buzzing in one day!

We build our home 7 years ago and installed 5 Hampton Bay fans throughout the house. No problems what so ever until yesterday. Suddenly all 5 have started an 'electrical buzz'. Could there have been a change in our electrical service that would have caused this? We typically run our fans on low 24/7. Last night we had to turn the bedroom fans off as the buzzing was too loud / annoying to sleep

And yes Grainger, Fastenal, etc all sell the oil type. The black box ones are actually harder to find though some hardware stores still stock them.

You may also want to try Mouser or Digikey.. A couple of mine I got from the bowling alley are doing the same, I just haven't got around to replacing them.. If you want original then stick with the oil-filled type, if you want something that will be more reliable over the years, the Black Box type..
