Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ fan stopped and started working suddenly

The other night, I pulled the string on my fan to turn the light on while the fan was spinning. The light didn't come on, and the fan stopped working. I checked the breaker box in the other room and everything there was OK. Just a few minutes ago, I flipped the switch and pushed up on the fan. Then the light came on and the blades started spinning. Could I just have a loose connection? Is it safe to use a fan if it does that?

If it was previously running fine, and the blades spin freely by hand, replacing the cap should solve the problem.

Blenderfan is fixed! The original cap was a 5uf also, it was an oval one, though. I made the round one fit. Glad that's all it was!
