I've seen many, MANY Blenderfans with blown capacitors, all of them K63. I'm sure you know they take the oil filled kind, either 4 or 5 uf (seems to be random which one), and it's located in the top of the motor - hence, you will need to take the fan down to access it, and you'll also need a set of Allen wrenches to remove either the downrod or the hanger piece so you can take off the canopies. You could put in a black box capacitor, but you'd either need to secure the wires to the clips or cut off the clips and use wire nuts accordingly. Either way, I wouldn't put higher than a 5uf in there though.

Thanks, JW. I'd like to replace it with the black box kind. I'm betting the oil-filled ones are hard to find now.

I've actually found the oil-filled ones at Grainger, very similar to what's in most Emersons from the 70s and 80s. Clips fit right on, simple swap out.

And yes Grainger, Fastenal, etc all sell the oil type. The black box ones are actually harder to find though some hardware stores still stock them. Link to Post - Back to Top Logged
