Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ 3 speed -4 wire switch problem
AAlvaras Posted on 8/11/2010 7:37:49 PM
Hello. I had to replace a switch because of a broken chain. I marked the wire locations before I replaced the switch (orange-1, black-2, orange-3, red -L) , but when I turned the fan on with the new switch, the fan turned turned on but took three pulls to turn off (each pull did not in turn change the speed of the fan.) I switched the black cable with the red cable with the following results (first pull - normal speed, second pull-fast speed, third pull-normal speed, final pull- off) Is that ok? Can I damage my unit or cause a fire if I leave the connection that way? Thanks in advance for your help.
