I have an outdoor Hunter ceiling fan model 21952. It's been working fine for many years. Then, all of sudden yesterday, the fan will not shut off. The single pull chain used to cycle through the three speeds and then shut the fan off. Now, the fan keeps running at a single speed, and pulling the pull chain only makes it reverse direction. Pull the chain again, reverses direction again. Never shuts off no matter how many times you pull the chain. Incidentally, there is no reverse-direction switch on the fan, so reversing the direction was not something that the fan did before now.
Does this sound like a capacitor problem?

Best as I can read up on Hunter's web site, this fan should have a reverse switch.
Call them, the number is on http://www.hunterfan.com and see what they have to say.
