Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ Hampton Bay fan light stays at brightest setting
Pat95672 Posted on 3/10/2010 2:39:47 PM
While replacing the bulb - (and having a heck of a time getting the shade off) a did something wrong and got a bright spark from the area of the bulb.

I installed the new bulb and found that it is only on at the brightest setting - the remote will not dim it.

Did I break the rheostat?

Is this part available seperately?

Thanks!

Always change bulbs with the power off. You need to replace the receiver. You can order a new one from Hampton Bay. Their number is in our sticky.

Thanks!

How can you tell the light is on or off when you go to to replace the bulb?

Also - where is your sticky located?

Thanks!

Pat

You have to cut power with a wall switch.

I don't have a wall switch - just the remote.

I called one of the numbers you provided, thanks, and they told me they need a model number - they told me the model number was on top of the fan.

I looked.

It isn't.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I dont, that's normally where it would be.

Maybe there are numbers on the receiver they can match up.
