Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ Hampton Bay Remote
brakiachi Posted on 11/16/2009 5:00:50 AM
After searching around, I think I am having a rather unique problem. I recently installed a hampton bay remote (191-707). The remote features 5 buttons and a switch. The switch is an on/off switch. One button turns on/off the lights. The other 4 buttons are for fan speed (hi, med, low, off). After installing the remote here is what I have: High button turns lights and fan on high speed. Med Low and Off turn off the system. The light button does nothing.

After a couple of days, the med, low and off buttons turn the fan off, but the lights do not turn all the way off, they go to maybe half power.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Well either the remote is broken, or the receiver is. I cant honestly say which one, you might try replacing both. USUALLY the receiver fails first unless the remote has been dropped.

Are you sure that the remote reciver you intalled into the canopy is connected correctly? Maybe the fan is on the light lead nand the light is on the fan lead.

Or perhaps wired in reverse. I agree, check all the wiring. The separate set of two wires should connect to the ceiling.
