Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ Installing Light Kit on old fan

Hi, I am trying to install a nice light kit from Hampton Bay onto an old fan. All I can find about the manufacturer is a sticker on it that says UL Model No. DCF-482, 110V 60HZ 0.7 AMP, Leslie-Locke, Akron Ohio, made in Hong Kong, listed 408X. The house was built around 1986.

I understand all the instructions in the light kit and there is a decorative knob on the fan that when I unscrew there is a black and white wire that hang down from the housing. My problem is that all the instructions I can find say to unscrew the three screws that let you into the housing area. (Removing the cap) However my fan does not have these screws. I can see there is a gap which does look like it should separate from the fan, but I have no idea how to get this off or if it comes off?

The cheap 3 dollar light kit from home depot would probably work, but I would really like to use the light kit I bought. Any suggestions/advice for me? Thanks for taking a look!
Jen
