On a Pasadena model, Casablanca ceiling fan, it appears someone replaced the original fan speed switch. The one, I found, has a red body. The fan runs only on high speed.
The wiring, as I found it is: yel - L; wht (from capacitor) - 1; blk (from 7-pin connector) - 2; red (from capacitor) - 3.
Yel, from capacitor goes to the 7-pin connector.
Blu, from the capacitor goes to the reversing switch.
Could you tell me if the red bodied switch is correct for this fan. Also, could you advise me how to correctly wire it.
Thanks.
Bob

Check with the good people at http://www.casablancafanrepair.com

I tried that site, and couldn't get the information I needed. What I am looking for is the wiring diagram for the fan speed switch on a Casablanca model 200 Pasedena ceiling fan.
I think it now has the wrong switch and is incorrectly wired.
Thanks.

I know you will actually need to call Casablanca, their number is on that site.

Below, is a copy of a note I sent to Casablanca:
After spending over 30-minutes on hold, trying to get an answer to a simple question, I gave up. All I needed was a wiring diagram for the speed switch for a Pasadena, 4-Seasons, model 200, s/n 011007H ceiling fan. It appears someone had changed the original speed switch, and probably wired the replacement incorrectly. We recently purchased this house, and I wanted to get the fan running properly. It just isn't worth listening to your robo answering service, commercials and reminders about how important my call is to you - and keep holding. I'll wait for your reply. Otherwise, I will trash the fan.

I've never had those problems calling them.
I dont have a color guide for those colors. It's possible that the wiring is right and the pullchain is wrong.

The last link you sent me worked. Below, is a copy of our correspondence:
Thanks for your help. Once the wiring was corrected, the fan ran as it is supposed to. I'll keep you as a contact in the event we need parts for our other fans. Bob Scuorzo ----- Original Message ----- From: To: charlotte&bob Sent: Friday, September 25, 2009 10:31 AM Subject: RE: Wiring Diagram
I can probably help but will need you to call 800-365-4548. We do not have any way of cross referencing Casablanca's fans but we can discuss what you have and see if I have the info you need. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Wiring Diagram From: "charlotte&bob" Date: Thu, September 24, 2009 11:11 pm To:

I've replaced the old 4 wire speed switch with two different (new) switches but neither one will operate the fan. I used the color codes of the old switch and installed into the new. Only get a slight hum from the fan when wired same as the old but get nothing when I hook up wires differently. In any event, the fan does not come on. I thought the first "universal" switch was defective but the 2nd switch did exactly the same thing. The old switch works but the pull chain came out of the switch housing and the fan was stuck on high speed. Perhaps the new switches are wired differently? Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You probably dont have the correct replacement switch. What make is the fan?

Just called (per someones suggestion above) celingfanparts.com, for a replacement switch for the speed control.
Original Switch is a Shine Top LS-102 and cannot be found anywhere.
After being scammed by fixya.com about PAYING for service advice and NOT finding the correct switch
I found this posting/forum.
Renee with ceilingfanparts.com seems to have a correct replacement switch. She is sending me a different part number but is adamanant that it will work.
Thanks guys. If anyone has the correct Shine Top LS-102 let me know.

Best thing to do is get parts from the manufacturer. Second best thing is to deal with Switchco. I swear by them.
