Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ Hampton Bay Fan w/Remote - Wiring question
mlyons Posted on 2/1/2009 8:21:31 PM
I'm replacing an existing fan w/light with a Hampton Bay fan w/remote. The fan and light are controlled by one switch.

My question relates to the wiring of the remote receiver. The house supply box has a red, black and white wire but the remote receiver only has a red and a white wire to connect to the supply box. So, I'm not sure which wire in the supply box to leave unconnected.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Try connecting the red. Really it can be either, but only one will be controlled by the switch.

Just installed the fan this last weekend with no issues.

Thanks for the advice.
