I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan with remote. When I use the remote to turn off the light, the light does not turn off, but the fan powers on and off with no problem. When turn the power off at the switch, the light will go off and then back on when I flip the switch.
I thought it was the remote, but I tested the remote at Home Depot and it works fine. I talked to one of the guys at Home Depot and he said it could be the capacitor. Is that possible? Please help! Could the receiver be bad?

It's the receiver. The capacitor does not affect the lights.
Order a new receiver from Hampton Bay.

The remote has a reverse switch on it. Does the receiver need to have something special in it for that? Also, do you have a # for Hampton Bay? If the reciever doesnt need anything special, then Home Depot sells them.

You need one from the manufacturer not the ones Home Depot sells. Their number is in the sticky at the top of this forum.
