Hi all, new to the forums, and hoping the good folks here will be more helpful than Hunter Support (snort)!
I just arrived in San Antonio, TX yesterday, to my brother's house, and am staying in his spare bedroom until I get hooked up with a job. The room has a Hunter ceiling fan, with a light, but as yet I've not found the model number. The problem is this: There is a pull chain switch for the light, and a place for one for the fan, but with nothing in the fan slot. Right now, the fan is on high, ALL the time, when the fan is on, and the only way to turn it off is the wall switch, which then turns off the light also. So, first off: 1) Am I correct in assuming that since there is a slot for a fan switch, it is a variable speed fan, and can accept a pull chain switch? 2) Must I pull down the whole fan to find the model number on top of the motor housing? 3) At present with only the globe and the light/switch fixture pulled down, there are only two wires feeding down from the motor, white and gray. Both are attached to the lights. Do I need to pull down the rest to see what other wires are present? I am confident I can do the work, once I figure out what's going on, but was trying to minimize the amount of stuff I needed to take off the fixture... Thanks in advance for any help!2674 |

| In that case, snap some pictures of the fan and place where the switch would go, and the wires you mention, and post them or email them. | ||||||
