Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ Extra Wire

I just installed a Harbor Breeze Triton Ceiling fan model #192904. Everthing works great except I want to attach the remote, problem is I have a hot red wire but do not know what to do with it> Do I tie it with the black or white leading in the remote?

What wires do you have from the fan, the ceiling, and the receiver?

White is (should be) always return. If you connect either of the hots (red or black) to the white you will instantly pop the breaker or blow a fuse.

If you are using a remote, the one I got had input leads for hot and neutral only and the remote acted to power the light or fan as needed using the black, white and blue leads on the other side. If that matches you situation, cap the red without connecting it to anything and hook white & black to the 2 wire end of the remote receiver.

Possible. Also possible that the receiver hot needs to be tired to the red wire and the ceiling black capped. Let's wait for more info.
