Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ fan and light stopped working

I have a Hampton Bay without remote that just stopped working. I left it on all day and when I came home the fan and light were both dead. I checked breakers and nothing is blown. I love this fan. It is about a year and a half old. I can't buy the model anymore. What do you think is wrong? Can I get replacement parts if needed?

If the fan and light both stopped, it might be an electrical connection at the fan has come loose.

With power off at the breaker, open up the electrical connection under the base and see if one of the wire nuts has come loose. If there is a separate hot for the light and one for the fan motor, it is most likely the return (white) wire that is loose.

It could also be a bad switch which is much easier to check!

Does the LED still light on the remote?

Does the fan have pullchains?

I will check the connections. Which switch are you talking about? The switch on the wall or a switch within the fan? The fan does not have a remote. It does have pull chains. Could that be something? Thanks for the help.

Check the switch on the wall. The pull chains are unlikely since their are 2, one for fan and one for light and both failing simultaneously is unlikely.

Look for loose connections first and then, if they look okay, test the switch. To do that, you'll need to remove it from the circuit and use an ohmmeter or a continuity meter to see if the switch connects at all. If you suspect the switch, take it to a reputable lamp/fan store and ask them to confirm it as good or bad. If bad, they'll have a replacement.

Open the fan at the ceiling, and remove the remote receiver. Wire the fan without it. See if it now works from the pullchains and wall switches.

As this fan reportedly doesn't have a remote, the wall switch is still the most likely culprit.

I'm sorry I misread "with" vs "without".

Do you have a voltmeter? Since both the fan and light are out there are only a limited number of things it could be.

Are they controlled separately from the wall or from the same switch? What type of switch(es)?
