Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ Hampton Bay ceiling fan
wsfitch Posted on 8/11/2008 8:54:08 PM
I removed the broken switch on a Hampton Bay ceiling fan about a year ago and don't know where I wrote down the wiring diagram. I bought a new 3 speed switch that has L,1,2,& 3 positions. I hooked the wires in the most common method L-black, 1-grey, 2-brown, 3-purple. The fan will switch speeds but not turn off. I have tried numerous positions and keep going but was hoping someone could save me some time. Should I keep running through the different combinations?

First try contacting Hampton Bay and ordering a switch from them. I bet you do not have the correct replacement switch.
