Ceiling Fan Help \ Ceiling Fan Problems \ Optima blade housing scrapes the light housing.
Author Messages Date Posted
SAMUELBOYD I recently moved my Hampton Bay Optima from one room to another, and it worked fine. I then decided to put it back in the original room. Now the "middle" unit that houses the blade seems to be too low, and it scrapes the lower unit that houses the light. I've tightened the blades, but that didn't help. What can I do?

SAMUELBOYD No, I don't have a picture, and I'm not sure I'm sophisticated enough to figure out how to send one. I have also looked for this model online, and I can't find it, either. The model numbers on the owner's manual are 474-641 and 474-628, so it's one of those. It's a 52" fan. (I'm tired of climbing the ladder and taking the thing down, but I will if I have to in order to see which model it is.) I'll also try to figure out how to send a picture. It just looks like the motor and blades have slipped about an eighth of an inch down the shaft. If they could be raised about that much, it wouldn't scrape on the light housing. 8/5/2008

cfanrepair The model numbers mean nothing to me.

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? I cant help you without a picture, and even then I may or may not be able to help without seeing the fan in person.
